Lighthouse North is a faith-based gathering with a vision to create fresh and innovative expressions of church that reflect and add value to our local northern suburbs community.
Every week we get together on a Sunday afternoon, usually at Austinmer Public School from 4pm, where we enjoy great hospitality and hear and discuss different aspects of faith. A typical afternoon starts with a short presentation on a topic or idea about faith, which is followed with an open Q&A with the speaker. We also make time to unpack and learn traditional and modern spiritual practices that lead to growth in our lives and a closer connection to God. These might be ideas and methods around prayer, meditating on God, different ways to read scripture and much more.
A typical afternoon runs from 4pm – 5:30pm, however the ‘service’ part of this is usually only between 45-60mins, after which we eat, drink more coffee, and enjoy good conversation.
It’s a very relaxed atmosphere, more like coming to a cafe than a traditional church setting. It’s a place anyone who is curious about faith can come to, as well as a place for those just looking to meet some great people.
Through the week some other things we do are:
– “North Connects” – where we discuss life and faith in a smaller group dynamic;
– “Lighthouse Community Kitchen” – Thursday night pop-up restaurant for anyone in our community who might feel a bit lonely, isolated, or just hungry!
If you are looking to connect into a local church, get involved in volunteering, or are simply curious about faith and spirituality, we would love to meet you!
