Lighthouse Children’s Director

12month contract 2 days / week

Purpose

Lighthouse is a church that has a growing platform both online and across the local community. As an organisation very well-known across Australia and increasingly well-known around the world, Lighthouse impacts and strengthens its community 7 days a week. In this role you will actively supporting the lead ministry pastors in planning, coordinating, and delivering the Lighthouse children’s ministry function for all children between the ages of 0-12 years both through online and in person gatherings. You will already be passionate about engaging the younger generation and growing their faith. You will be enthusiastic, organised, and energetic to create exceptional experiences for children.

 Specific areas / What will you be doing

  • Oversight and leadership of the Children’s ministries across Lighthouse’s physical and online locations
  • Recruit, lead and build teams through volunteer engagement
  • Ensure all kids experiences expresses Lighthouse vision & values.
  • Develop and maintain parent/carer engagement through online and in person gatherings
  • Ensure Safer Churches requirements are met in children ministry areas

Preferred (but not essential) Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience in a volunteering or leading children ministry
  • Prior experience or understanding of working in faith-based organisations
  • Tertiary or post-secondary qualifications in early childhood, children’s services or children’s ministry.
  • Understanding and proficiency in Microsoft office and engaging in social media and online platforms.

2 x Key ministry leaders for a 2021 start.

The opportunity would suit people with a clear calling to ministry, the ability to build teams and work collaboratively with others. The right person would be able to connect, care and disciple people in and beyond our church gatherings. In this role you will actively supporting Lighthouses lead ministry pastors. Specific leadership skills could relate to one or more of the following:

  • Creative/Music/Graphic design
  • Kids Ministry
  • Designing and executing our Sunday gatherings in person & online
  • Young Adults
  • Connect Group Administration/content development.
    The roles would involve leading the people, function and resources of a department (s) listed above.

While not essential desired Skills and Experience could include

  • Prior experience in a volunteering or leading ministry area
  • Prior experience or understanding of working in church / faith-based organisations
  • Tertiary or post-secondary qualifications in ministry

Administration Assistant

Would you like to work in a dynamic church / community office environment to provide administration support for the executive leaders?

A fulltime position exists for an experienced Administration Assistant to commence March 2021.

Key requirements for this role are:

  • Ability to work in a dynamic church / community office environment to provide administration support for executive leaders.
  • High levels of interpersonal skills for phone screening, interactions with guests and the broader community.
  • Solid levels of computer literacy and a high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office including strong numerical, keyboard and data entry skills
  • Ability to work with a range of IT/communication systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively, independently & collaboratively as required
  • Positive attitude, well-presented and reliable with a high degree of confidentiality
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated organisation skills and the ability to prioritise, multi-task & work to timelines and deadlines

Lighthouse Community Kitchen Coordinator – 8 hours

A one day a-week (or 8 hours) position exists for a community minded, organised individual to coordinate one of Lighthouse’s key initiatives. Lighthouse Community Kitchen is currently a meal service that operates out of a commercial kitchen next to the train station in Wollongong. One of the hallmarks of the kitchen does not just feed people, it’s get to know them. The kitchen serves between 40-100 guests every Thursday night. The position can start immediately.  

Key current requirements for this role are: 

  • Create a high quality people focused food service 
  • Recruit volunteers for both the kitchen and service 
  • Foster fun team culture and connection 
  • Coordinate interactions & food service between guests and volunteers on thursdays 
  • Ensure safe practices – including volunteer WWCC & food handling hygiene  
  • Report weekly to General manager on functionality of Kitchen & Care, Connection of guests.  
  • liaise with external service providers such as Orange Sky, hairdressers, that support the initiative.  
  • Link with community partners  

Skills required.  

While no formal qualifications are necessary to apply for the role. Experience & leadership in community-based initiatives or experience in hospitality would be considered an advantage.

Lighthouse Community Kitchen is poised for growth into the future both in the amount of meals served, and also the value it offers to volunteers, community partnerships and potential social enterprises in the future. For the right person, the role has capacity to grow beyond a day a week.
